Milford Haven Tennis Club

Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome

Arthur Ashe

Founded over thirty years ago by the three Scales: our glorious president Queenie, Queenie's toy boy Gwyn and the mysterious Lord Sir Trevor, Milford Haven Tennis Club has been recently and officially voted the friendliest tennis club on planet earth by the guardians of world tennis, the ITF, the International Tennis Federation.

Amazingly (we can hardly believe it ourselves), the club can boast the reigning men’s county singles champion AND the men’s county doubles champions, the sensational Evans and Son, Bruce and Mathieu.

The Evans' titles are an example of genuine playground to podium success, and true tennis pedigree: grandmother to mother, mother to father, father to son

Mrs Ruth Moss

Against our better judgement, us lesser tennis mortals at the club ocasionally even enter informal league competitions (doing pretty well all things considered).

But we are more of a gentle have-a-knock-about group who love nothing more than welcoming new players of all ages and any level of ability not just for tennis, but also (and more importantly) for tea, cakes and chat, all under the warm evening sun.

Our club nights

Over the summer months we are holding our club sessions on the old Rath courts three times a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6.30pm to 8.30pm, as well as Sunday afternoons 2pm till 4pm.

Map locations for the Rath courts (summer) and the Meads courts (winter), along with club contact details can be found here: Our Court Locations and Contact Details

We are delighted to say that it was our club members who spontaneously renovated and lovingly rejuvenated the old Rath courts ravaged by the elements and 42 years of time into a weedy rack and ruin.

More here on the Rath Courts Rejuvenation Story

About a year ago (in middle age) I came to the convenient conclusion that the day wasn't long enough (and life wasn't long enough) for tennis: changing, driving, parking, stretching, playing, losing, stretching, showering, driving, changing

Pickleball Thursdays

Milford Haven Tennis Club (that's us) are thrilled to bits to announce that we are the ones introducing pickleball to Pembrokeshire, and, to be honest, we're feeling pretty smug about it.

Pickleball? What is this pickleball of which you speak?

Well now, pickleball is a racquet sport, which combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, one which, over the last 10 years, has grown to become the fastest growing racquet sport in both the UK and Europe.
So why not join us tonight to find out what all the fuss is about. We'll be at Thornton Hall in Milford School every Thursday from 7-9pm welcoming prospective pickleballers of all ages and abilities.
For just £3 you can expect to have fun, make friends and improve your sense of well being. And you can almost certainly expect to become addicted.
So, spread the word, share the excitement, and get ready to serve up some fun. See you on court.
